Finding intimacy with others begins with becoming intimate and honest with ourselves. In this episode with Kendra Cunov, we discuss the difficult habitual patterns we can get into as women seeking comfort and validation from our relationships.

After years of dating men who were not fully available to commit to partnership, Kendra decided to take a break from dating and men altogether. She knew this was what she needed to get to the bottom of what was having her stay in deeply unfulfilling dynamics. She made a commitment to get in right relationship with The Masculine, to figure out what she really wanted in a relationship, and to liberate her own desire to love and be loved.

Since then, she has worked with thousands of men, women & couples in the areas of embodiment, intimacy, and true self-expression. She also leads a program for women to embark upon a similar journey she went on, called The No-Man Diet.

In this conversation we also discuss the energetics behind our actions, and be sure to listen to the end because I love her response when asked, “What advice do you have for a woman feeling dissatisfied with her life right now?”

We hope you enjoy the show.

In this episode we discussed:

  • Relating to self and the world and how Kendra was drawn to the world of truth-telling and relationships

  • Kendra’s program, “The No Man Diet” and how she’s been helping women release addictive and unhealthy patterns in relationship to men

  • Cultivating intuition and giving ourselves permission to listen to it

  • The energetics behind our actions and why we sometimes say something that is received differently than we expected

  • The journey of finding self worth and learning to value yourself

  • Courage and how to live from a place of authentic self-expression

  • Getting really honest with where you are at and the powerful words of wisdom Kendra has for women feeling dissatisfied in their lives

New Year Wisdom: Go at Your Own Pace

newsletter.jpeg

Do you ever get caught up looking at someone who is ahead of you?

Maybe they have more followers, or are making more money, or have more experience, or wisdom. Or maybe they have children when you're hoping to start a family, or a partner when you're ready to meet someone.

It's very human, the desire to not be left behind.

We want to feel connected, and we want to keep pace with those around us.

So, we start speeding up.

Often we start moving at a pace that is unnatural to us, trying to direct our lives where we want them to go.

The problem is when we do that, we miss out on the beauty and lessons we are meant to receive on the path at the pace right where we are at.

Our nervous system has a hard time adjusting to this new pace. Our heart beats faster, it can begin to feel unnatural, and constrictive.

Or maybe we notice we are expanding at a rate that IS natural for us, and we see someone we love moving at a different pace and we want to slow ourselves down to meet them.

It's important here to recognize, and ask, "Am I changing my pace form a place of love, to enjoy deeper connection?"

or "Am I slowing down out of a sense of obligation? Am I limiting myself from my fullest expression?"

I realize now I would never want to hold someone back from the fullness of their expression, and the beauty of finding their own natural pace.

My new goal is to find peace in life exactly as it is. To move at a pace that is natural for me. To celebrate others at the pace they are at, without it needing to reflect anything about me or where I'm at.

Growing up I was the youngest in my family and when we went on hikes I often had a fear of being left behind.

I recently realized I was living a lot of my life at a pace that was unnatural for me, simply out of that fear. (It especially came up when I went on hikes with someone who walked faster than me!)

When I sat to investigate the feeling underneath, it was a fear of being alone.

And I was able to remind myself that aloneness isn't a scary thing.

It's actually much more painful and difficult to leave myself than to keep up with others out of the fear of being alone.

One of my favorite quotes is, "Loneliness is the absence of the other. Aloneness is the presence of one's self." ~ Osho

When we trust in life, in ourselves and our path, we meet the lessons we are meant to learn at the right time.

When we surrender to walking at our own pace, life becomes an art. We have time and space to receive the lessons, the beauty and the joy.

2020 gave me the gift of slowing down, and finding my own pace.

Sheltering-in-place gave me the opportunity to simply be on the land, connect more with the garden, the neighbors, and the quiet whispers of my heart.

As we step into the New Year I invite you to consider:

Where have I been moving at someone else's pace?

Where have I been afraid of being left behind?

Where have I limited myself out of a fear of leaving someone else behind?

Our souls all have a journey to walk and a pace that is perfect for us.

When we develop comfort and peace in the natural unfolding, we learn it's ok to be left behind. It's also ok to expand more quickly than those around us.

We learn to stop leaving ourselves, and the path we are meant to walk.

This year, may we find our own natural pace.

May we find peace in seeing the people who are ahead of us.

May we celebrate the fullness of their expression.

May we cultivate compassion for those who are at a different place on their path.

and may we live into the fullness of the exact right pace we are meant to walk.

With love,

Meredith

New Moon Solar Eclipse December 14, 2020: New Beginnings, Patience & Structure

solar_eclipse-1024x683.jpg

Themes: New beginnings, Patience, Structure

On this New Moon total solar eclipse, we are being asked to lay the foundation for the year ahead. With Saturn's strong influence within one degree of Jupiter, as well as its 'swa' placement in sidereal Capricorn, we are able to wield the most beneficial qualities of Saturn: the energy of building, slowing down, taking our time, and tending to what has been forgotten.

Saturn asks us to be patient and to be willing to wait for the rewards. The energy of this planet delays, but never denies. While we may feel a drive towards activity, we will also probably feel the energy of Saturn's constraint.

Be patient during this time. Although our inner child may be ready to let go of the limitations and go out and "play," the wisdom of Saturn beckons us to clean out the closets, and finish the "hard work" that will allow more freedom on the other side.

While the season of winter and the upcoming solstice asks us to pause on our larger life dreams, when we slow down and trust in the process, we create more space to expand in the months to come.

Questions to Contemplate:

What have I been putting on the back burner?

What is asking for my attention?

How can I slow down?

Where do I need more support?

How can I tend to my emotions?

What will support me to be more fully present in this moment?

Western Astrology: New Moon in Sagittarius

On December 14-15, we have a Total New Moon Solar Eclipse in the sign of Sagittarius. Solar Eclipses are like potent New Moons and unlock a door to a new portal of energy.

There is so much fresh energy on offer for us under this Eclipse. It brings the promise of brand new beginnings, fresh starts, and the opportunity to set wheels into motion.

The strong, abundant energy flowing around this Eclipse may also bring some gifts and rewards our way. This will be extra amplified by Saturn, who a few days later on December 17, will leave Capricorn where it has been for the last 2.5 years, for the sign of Aquarius.

It is said that whenever Saturn leaves one zodiac sign for another, we are gifted and rewarded for all of the hard work we have achieved.

The energy of the Solar Eclipse has the power to amplify these gifts and rewards, so think about where you have felt most challenged and where you have done the most growth, and then stay open to any gifts and rewards that may be illuminated for you under this energy.

The Sagittarius Solar Eclipse falls at 23-24 degrees of Sagittarius, which is also just a couple of degrees shy of the Galactic Center.

The Galactic Center is believed to be the center of our Universe and sits at about 27 degrees of Sagittarius. This is a highly sensitive degree of the zodiac and indicates strong galactic activations.

Under the light of this Eclipse, we may notice our frequency lifted and our consciousness ascending. We may begin to become aware of growing pains or ascension symptoms. We may even find ourselves accessing the wisdom of our intuition, spirit guides, and higher self with greater ease.

The Universe is always offering things to us, but we have to be in an open state to notice and receive these offerings too.

The fastest way to get into a state of receiving is to shift our mindset, and the easiest way to do that is to focus on abundance, appreciation, and gratitude as often as we can.

When you shift out of complaining, wishing things were different, or self-limiting thinking, and open instead to abundance, you will open the door to not just seeing the offering of the bluebird, but all that you have to offer too.

Giving from the pureness of your heart is also another way to open to receiving. This time of year tends to bring out the spirit of giving anyway, but see if you can shift this to come from a more heart-centered place rather than a place of obligation.

The Sagittarius Solar Eclipse beckons us to rise up and observe the many blessings that have been hidden in the shadows. As we bring our blessings into the light, it also shines a spotlight on our relationship with the Universe.

The Universe is always listening and responding to us. Even during those dark times where it feels the Universe has not got our back, that is only because we have entered a chapter where we are strong enough to walk as One.

Embrace the season of your life, ground into this Solar Eclipse energy, and keep your heart and mind rooted in the miracle that you are.

Overall, the Sagittarius Solar Eclipse carries some of the brightest energy we have experienced all year.

Stay open to the light even though there may be darkness present too. Listen to your own inner voice and keep your heart pointed in the direction you wish to head.

Vedic Astrology: New Moon in Scorpio

The last eclipse of 2020, this one a total solar eclipse, will take place on December 14th. Solar eclipses always coincide with the new Moon, where today’s new Moon will be at 11:16 AM EST, in sidereal Scorpio.

For those with significant planetary placements in sidereal Scorpio, such the Ascendant, Moon or Sun here, the effects of this eclipse are likely to be experienced more powerfully.

As an influence that amplifies human action for better or for worse, eclipses are inwardly transformative periods and ideal for intensified spiritual practices, worship and charitable giving.

This Total Solar Eclipse will be visible in the Southern Hemisphere, from Chile through some parts of Argentina. Some regions in southern South America, South-West Africa, and Antarctica will see a partial solar eclipse. This eclipse will start at 8:33 AM EST, and end at 1:53PM EST, and the moment of maximum eclipse will be at 11:13AM EST.

The chart of today’s New Moon will give an indication of the themes which are likely to color the next 30 days. In this chart, Saturn stands out, where its effects are deeply pervasive.

One reason Saturn is prominent is because of its transit within one degree of Jupiter. Here they enter into the too-close adverse association known as ‘planetary war’. These two planets rival for dominance and it is common belief that the planet in higher northern latitude becomes the victor. Here, the winner is Saturn. These two planets will be exactly conjunct on December 21, the day of the winter solstice....

Saturn is the planet of structure. At its best, Saturn’s containment may encourage a steady focus, where priorities and mature intentions are set, diversion falls away, and things of substance are created. Saturn’s slowed-down, introspective and simple nature may be ideal for giving importance to the things which will endure.

Will This Be the Year You Say ‘Yes’ to Your Calling?

ocean.jpg

I’ve been on the phone the last few weeks with amazing women joining us this year in the 10 month program, Way of the Priestess.

On one call this beautiful woman was sharing about her self-doubt. How she knows there’s more to life than being a hairstylist (especially after COVID restrictions put that on hold), that she really longs to help people in a deep and meaningful way, but every time she tries to make a change, to prioritize something different, she doubts herself.

Self-critical voices come in, telling her she’s not enough, she doesn’t know enough, she’s not worthy of it, and on top of that, she just doesn’t know how to take the first step forward.

She knows deep down her highest self is strong, powerful, embodied, independent.

Her deepest desire is to have a platform to help women evolve. She longs to raise her vibration, the vibration of the planet and to create a ripple effect with every woman she comes into contact with.  She wishes to bring the consciousness of the divine feminine to more and more people.

But every time she looks in the mirror she can’t help but judge herself.

She starts a project and then she stops in her tracks. Her fear and doubt stop her.

Then her kids need her, the emails need her, the laundry needs her. She lets life get in the way.

Do you ever put your callings on the back burner?

What about your spiritual practice?

But this year she’s decided it’s going to be different. this is the year she is deciding to make it a priority. This is the year she’s investing in community, in guidance, and support.

When we get stuck in fear, self-doubt and self-critical voices, it really helps to have guidance. To have community.

To understand where these limiting beliefs and thoughts are coming from.

Here are a few ways I’ll be supporting women to fulfill their callings this year:

Inner healing

When we identify a pattern (for example, getting stuck in self-doubt or unworthiness) it really helps to identify the original wound. What memories from childhood are ready for healing? What subconscious core beliefs want to be healed? What past lives are we carrying where our power was taken away? When did we decide it’s not ok to shine? To be our most powerful and magical selves?

In Way of the Priestess, every woman receives private healing sessions throughout the program. In this space we can go deeper into healing these core wounds, unwinding the limiting beliefs, so each woman can feel confident taking her next steps forward.

Community

Sometimes we need our greatness reflected back to us. The kinds of communities I create are some of the most nurturing and encouraging I have ever been in. We listen to each other, we celebrate each other, we create a safe space to be seen. To share the fears and doubts, and to let them dissolve.

Being in an age where so many of us are confined to our homes, having depth, intimacy and consistency in community, is invaluable.

We’ll be meeting on zoom twice a month for 90 minutes… during this time I’ll be offering teachings, we’ll have time to connect and share our hearts with each other, we’ll sometimes have guest teachers. and sometimes we’ll be in ceremony together to honor the wheel of the year and high holy days.

Accountability

The laundry, the emails and the to do lists will continue to pile up. One of the most powerful ways I’ve had in my life to follow through on a spiritual practice, or taking a step forward towards my dreams is accountability.  When I tell someone I am going to do something, I follow through. Especially when there’s someone who will be checking in and asking about how it went!

Having a guide, someone consistent in your life prioritizing your dreams and callings, brings them to the forefront of your life. Suddenly there are no more excuses. And if you do get stuck, we can explore why, and uncover and heal the beliefs that may be holding you back.

Education

When it comes the the path of the Priestess, sometimes it’s just about wanting to learn and know more.

Every month in the program includes a priestess practice, an ascended master guide, a ritual, new and full moon wisdom, a new facilitation skill and an initiation gateway, or theme to be exploring that month.

By the end of the program you’ll have what you need to host your own women’s circles, to facilitate a rite of passage for those you love, and you’ll write your vows as a priestess. You’ll get to practice your facilitation, and be witnessed in crossing a threshold, stepping into life as your highest self in our closing ceremony.

This program is an invitation to bring your spiritual growth and your desire to serve, to create something more with your life, to the forefront.

No more putting your dreams on the back burner. It’s time to say yes to that deeper calling. The essence of what your soul came here for.

If you feel like you would benefit from community, guidance and support this year, I invite you to join us.

Book a call to learn more.

With love,

Meredith

Full Moon in Aries & A Channeled Message from Mary Magdalene

Screen Shot 2020-10-01 at 5.16.27 PM.png

FULL MOON IN ARIES :: The Great Transformation :: A Channeled Message from Mary Magdalene

For the last few years I’ve had a writing practice with Mary to tune into her channeled messages. As we approach the upcoming election, I wanted to offer this loving message I received to the community.

Dear One,

The Golden Age is upon us, but first dark consciousnesses must be purged. For centuries civil war has existed in the consciousness of humans, especially in the United States. This war has moved beyond the battlefield, but now you see it on the debate stages. This consciousness of war and fighting is coming up now to be witnessed and dissolved. Even though it may feel like you are going back in time, know that you, as a collective are evolving. There’s no going back. The darkest of the dark is coming up into the light. Trust that consciousness is evolving, and you are moving forward.

It is a time to take great care of the body, because you are literally clearing these dark consciousnesses from the field through your body. When you feel fear or shame or any difficult emotions, and release them, let them move through you, there is less dense energy in the field.

Your body is a vessel of transformation in these times of great change, and to be honored as it will connect you directly back to source.

You hold a unique blueprint that is valid and needed now. Your soul chose to be here at this time and we thank you. Whether you are witnessing, feeling, protesting, or transforming these dense energies, we thank you. We thank you for neutralizing the field, for going into a place of deep feeling because we know this is not easy work.

Remember, awareness is the first step in creating change. When you see something, you can no longer deny it, and you are called to activate and create change.

There are people who needed to see the fires to believe in climate change.
There are people who needed to see injustice to believe racism still existed. Now that this is in the light, it can be transformed.

Allow this Aries moon energy to take down the old systems and ways of being that are ready to be dissolved.

We know change can feel unfamiliar and uncomfortable. Take care of your emotions. Take care of your body. Cleanse, pray, rest

Know that you are not alone and beyond the chaos of dismantling is a new future that the children, the souls coming in at this time are ready to build.”

Warmly,
Meredith

It’s a joy to have Aimée Cartier back on the Rising Women Leaders podcast to share her 4-part Getting Answers process. As SO MANY things in our lives feel unknown and changing, we are often left with so many unanswered questions.  On all levels it seems clear that changes are needed in order to deal with the current challenges we are facing– from our health, to our livelihoods, to racial inequities, to climate change.  New solutions are needed.

How do we get those answers?  How do we get those personal answers for ourselves during this unique moment in history we are living?  Questions like, “What is the best way for me to stay healthy?”, “How do I create financial stability for my family?”  Or “How do we continue to move forward, discern, find clarity and solutions in a world on fire?”

Aimée suggests it is absolutely possible and that furthermore it is not that hard.  In this episode she teaches a very simple process that anyone can use anywhere to get answers to the questions they are facing.

In this episode we discussed:

  • The Four steps in the Getting Answers process

  • Aimée’s recommendations for creating your questions

  • Receiving life vs. creating life and how to use manifestation and goal setting in collaboration with the universe

  • The difference between fear and intuition

  • What to do if we experience fear or resistance to the answers we receive

  • How to best cope with this period where there is so much we don’t know

  • What it looks like when inanimate objects give us an answer to our big life questions

  • The practice of patience when waiting for an answer

  • What to do if we don’t feel like we receive an answer

  • How Aimée empowers her students and clients to trust their own intuition

105 | Why We’re Here & Where We’re Going: The Story of A New Earth with Lorie Ladd

kauai.jpg

SUBSCRIBE ON ITUNES

Ever since I was a little girl I sat with existential questions like, “What’s really happening here?” “Why are we doing this?” “What’s the point of it all?”

I didn’t have many people to turn to for answers, until finally after college, I stepped on to a path of spirituality, meditation and yoga. I was led to deeper insight and intuitive wisdom within my body, where I began to remember and ascend.

But it really wasn’t until I went to Egypt two years ago that I began to have an inner knowing that what we learned in history and science class in school about human evolution and Earth is simply not the whole story. Being inside the Great pyramids and temples, feeling the frequencies and beholding the incredible mystery of those lands led me to search for answers. I just knew there was no way those ancient cities were built with human hands. I knew there was a higher, much more evolved influence from the stars.

I began learning about sacred sites of the world (such as Stone Henge and the Mayan Pyramids). I read books of people’s past life memories in Ancient Egypt and dove into the esoteric histories of Atlantis and Lemuria.

Today, I am honored to introduce you to Lorie Ladd, Ascension Guide and a Multi-Dimensional Channel for the Galactic Federation of Light. It was on her first trip to Machu Picchu that the true history of Earth became more clear to her. In this conversation we dive into the possibilities of where this all began.

In this episode we discussed:

  • Lorie’s story from quitting her executive assistant job in San Francisco to saying yes to her calling in Mt. Shasta

  • Trusting the timing in your soul’s journey

  • How everyone’s “purpose” here is going to look different

  • What is the Earth Experiment? Why are we here? What’s the point?

  • The dimensional realities Earth has been moving through

  • Atlantis and Lemuria on Earth

  • As a starseed, how to handle feelings of wanting to go “back home” when things get hard

  • What ascension looks like in our current times and why this is all happening

  • All about Lorie’s book in the making

Understanding Cultural Appropriation

Canva - White Rose.jpg

Cultural appropriation has become so widely engrained in modern spiritual culture, it’s often blind to white people. To a white person, teaching yoga, singing mantras, calling upon goddesses and deities of other cultures is often seen as the norm.

Layla Saad defines cultural appropriation as a modern type of colonization that involves taking cultural practices, spiritual traditions and other cultural elements for one’s own use, sometimes for commercial purposes. It happens when there is an imbalance of power and privilege - a dominant or privileged culture appropriates from a non dominant or marginalized culture.

In my last post, Understanding White Privilege I shared about white people’s unconscious tendency to “Take” without asking. This has played out widely in cultural appropriation.

Last year a friend of mine (a person of color) brought up the topic of cultural appropriation, specifically about ways I had been participating in it.

I began to look at my life and see how much of my work involved cultural appropriation:

  • Teaching yoga

  • Profiting from teaching yoga

  • Singing Sanskrit mantras

  • Calling upon goddesses and deities from an ancestral lineage other than my own

  • Teaching about goddesses and deities from outside my ancestral lineage

  • Leading cacao ceremonies

  • Profiting from leading cacao ceremonies

  • Profiting at all from sharing rituals and traditions from cultures other than my own

When a POC (Person of Color) sees a white person doing these things, it can cause harm.

It can be hard to understand at first from a white person’s perspective because these acts are so deeply pervasive in our spiritual communities.

Why have these practices from other cultures become so prevalent in white communities? I understand that many people from European descent have lost touch with their own ancestral rituals and spiritual practices. So much of the magic and traditions of Northern European cultures were lost when ancient libraries were burned and the patriarchy repressed women from practicing rituals that were passed down through their lineage.

Over the last few decades, as more white people have been “waking up” spiritually and looking for deeper meaning in life, they have found deep solace in practices like yoga, cacao, and reclaiming a personal connection to the Goddess.

Which, for some traditions, have been encouraged by spiritual teachers from the Indian lineage. (I think of teachers like Paramhansa Yogananda or Amma selflessly bringing the teachings of yoga, meditation, and Indian philosophy to the West).

But, it is interesting to look at how yoga has become so commodified in the West, with many white teachers earning hundreds of thousands of dollars from sharing these teachings.

When I began to look at my relationship and participation in cultural appropriation, I thought about how:

Not one of the white teachers I had learned from had ever brought up the topic of cultural appropriation, or how to have a conversation about cultural appropriation when a POC approached me about these practices.

I had to do some deep digging in books to even find any mention of cultural appropriation when it came to Priestess traditions and working with Goddesses of other cultures.  I finally did in this book by Ruth Barrett.

Ruth speaks of white people’s expectation to call upon multicultural Goddesses in ritual:

Many women of European descent don’t think twice about invoking goddesses outside their own culture. They don’t stop to consider issues around cultural appropriation. This lack of perspective comes from a position of privilege, however unconscious it may be. Some women seem to have the attitude that they have an inherent right to invoke any goddess from any tradition, lift Her entirely out of Her cultural, ethnic or religious context and ask Her to serve their purposes.

So how can we do better?

Barrett goes on to share:

…Women can learn to be respectful guests around goddesses of cultures other than their own. Just as it is critical for all people to cultivate an awareness of multiculturalism, it is equally important to understand the diversity of female deities of other cultures. There is, however, a line between being a respectful guest who acknowledges other goddess forms and attempting to take over your hostess’s home and asking her to serve you.

Barrett invites us to respectfully form relationships with these Goddesses, to first work with and explore goddesses within our own culture and ethnic heritage, and when we are drawn to Goddesses from other cultures, to be willing to travel to study with teachers of that lineage if it is a living tradition, and if not, to study and learn as much as we can to relate to that Goddess appropriately.

This is an invitation for deep inquiry for people within white spiritual communities.

I can’t say I have all the answers, and I am finding my way within all of this, knowing how deeply the practices of yoga have touched my life, and also feeling called to speak up about the oppression of POC for hundreds of years in our country.

When I brought this topic to one of my mentors a few months ago, I appreciated her response: Cultural appropriation is real and it's happening. Cultural appreciation with deep, true study and genuine growth must lead the way.

What We Can Do:

  • Approach spiritual practices from cultures other than our own with awareness and deep appreciation

  • Educate ourselves about racial inequality and cultural appropriation to have meaningful conversations without getting defensive or thrown off guard

  • Pay Black, Indigenous People of Color to learn directly from them

  • Actively donate to causes of cultures you are most drawn to or teach about

  • Make a point to travel to the origin of these practices and where you can, study with BIPOC and directly with lineage holders

  • Teach your students about cultural appropriation if you train people in spiritual traditions or yoga

  • Connect more deeply with your own ancestry and see if you can discover rituals from your lineage

  • Engage your teachers in conversation about this topic

  • Be in your own inquiry about how to best move forward with sharing or profiting from teachings of cultures other than your own

I know this is a sensitive topic and I honor you for being here, reading this, and being willing to learn and better serve our communities.

We are being called to deepen in study, reverence, and humility to dismantle the systems that have caused oppression for far too long.

With love,
Meredith

Note: I want to emphasize how important it is at this time to learn directly from People of Color (and pay them) as they are the ones who have been living at the effects of systemic racism and oppression their whole lives. This article shares my perspective as a white person, and I encourage my readers to study, pay and learn directly from BIPOC on these topics. I’ve included resources and links below.
