Mary Magdalene: Priestess of Anointing and Sacred Union

Mary Magdalene was not the prostitute the early Church claimed her to be. That story was a deliberate effort to erase the true power of a woman who was a spiritual equal to Jesus, a beloved, a teacher, and a High Priestess of the Rose.

Many believe she was trained in the ancient mysteries of Egypt, in the temple teachings of Isis. She carried the wisdom of the sacred rite of anointing—a ritual of blessing, purification, and energetic initiation.

It is said that she anointed Jesus before and after the crucifixion, preparing him for death, resurrection, and divine ascension.

Some art historians say she is pictured with the alabaster jar to allure men with the scent of seduction—But in truth, that jar held sacred anointing oils—oils used in Hieros Gamos, oils used in rites of conception, oils used to bridge spirit and flesh.

While the art of anointing was used in the bed chamber between man and wife, it was always seen as a holy act, a sacrament, preparing a soul to meet the divine within.

Oils infused with intention, and vibration were used to awaken memory, open portals of healing, and consecrate sacred moments in a soul’s journey.

This was the energetic union of the masculine and feminine, where two lovers, devoted in heart and spirit, entered a sacred chamber not just to make love—but to become one.

Before entering the bridal chamber, the man would be anointed by the woman. This anointing prepared the body and soul to receive the divine through the vessel of the other.
