10 Signs You Are a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)

Do you ever just feel weighed down by the state of the world?

Does it take you hours or days to recover after watching the news?

Do you ever find yourself actually feeling other people’s emotions?

There are people walking among us who feel more…
Sense more.
Dream more.
And ache more deeply than they know how to explain.

These are the mystics, the intuitives, the empaths, the visionaries.
The ones who cry at beauty. The ones who receive songs in the middle of the night.

The ones who dream in symbols and sometimes clear, prophetic messages.

We are the highly sensitive ones.

The ones who grieve the pain of the world as if it were happening in our own body.

We tend to need more rest, more space, more silence.

And unfortunately, many of us have been told there is something “wrong” with us.

But what if nothing is wrong?
What if we are just… highly sensitive?
And what if our sensitivity was not a burden—but a sacred gift?

What Is a Highly Sensitive Person?

The term Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) was first coined by psychologist Dr. Elaine Aron. Her research shows that about 15–20% of the population have a finely tuned nervous system, which processes stimulation more deeply than others.

HSPs aren’t just “emotional” or “fragile”—they are highly attuned to subtle shifts in energy, emotion, and environment.

This trait is found across all genders, but I’ve found as I connect to women on the phone from around the world, that most of us who are called to the Priestess path also identify as a highly sensitive person.

We are the empaths, channels, the sensitive feminine.

I see this path as a sacred gift, one that may actually be essential to become the living vessel we are here to be: the bridge between Heaven and Earth.

10 Signs You Might Be a Highly Sensitive Person

If any of these speak to you, you probably identify as a HSP:

1. You feel other people’s emotions in your body.

You walk into a room and instantly sense the mood. If someone is sad, anxious, or angry—you feel it as if it’s your own.

2. You’re easily overwhelmed by crowds, noise, or chaotic environments.

Malls, airports, or even loud social gatherings can leave you drained or anxious.

3. You need regular alone time to “come back to yourself.”

Without solitude, you lose touch with your own voice.

4. You feel deeply moved by music, art, poetry, or nature.

A sunset can bring tears. A song can send shivers. You often say, “I don’t know why I’m crying... I just feel it.”

5. You’re highly intuitive—sometimes even psychic.

You know things before they’re said. You dream of events before they happen. You “just know” when something’s off.

6. You are sensitive to the energy of places.

You walk into a space and feel the leftover energy of arguments, joy, grief, or celebration. You may also feel the energy of the land, especially portal spots around the world, or lands that hold the energy of massacre from centuries past.

7. You’re affected by world events on a soul level.

News of suffering can stay with you for days, it can enter your dreams and sometimes make it hard to get out of bed.

8. You’re often the one others come to for support.

You’re a natural space-holder—but often forget to care for yourself as deeply.

9. You have vivid dreams, or carry other people’s energy into your sleep.

After guests stay in your home, your dreams shift. You may feel others’ emotions or energy especially in your dreamtime.

10. You’re deeply impacted by beauty and disharmony alike.

Environments, colors, sounds, even harsh lighting or clutter can affect your mood.

If these feel familiar… you are not alone.

You are not “too much.”
You may simply be called to the Priestess path—and would benefit from learning how to protect your body as a living temple.

The Shadow and the Light: Sensitivity as Blessing and Burden

Many of us have grown up in a world that celebrates productivity, toughness, and speed—not softness, receptivity, or intuition.

So sensitivity often becomes a source of shame.
We armor up. We shut down. We learn to numb ourselves.

But in truth…

Your sensitivity is what allows you to:

  • Receive divine messages.

  • Channel poetry, music, and sacred art.

  • Sense when a friend needs you.

  • Feel the pulse of the planet.

  • Hear the quiet voice of your ancestors.

Yet without energetic boundaries, it can also cause:

  • Chronic fatigue or adrenal burnout.

  • Emotional overload.

  • Insomnia or dream disturbances.

  • Confusion about which emotions are truly yours.

This is why sensitive women must learn to become energetically sovereign.

Rituals for Energetic Protection and Reclamation

The following practices are sacred technologies to tend the energy field of the sensitive woman.

1. Grounding Cord Ritual: Release What Is Not Yours

When the weight of the world becomes too much to carry…

Sit or stand in stillness.
Close your eyes. Place a hand on your womb or heart.

Imagine a thick, glowing cord extending from your womb, through your root chakra, down into the center of the Earth.

Feel yourself tethered to the Great Mother.

Now visualize any dark, heavy, or smoky energy—grief, fear, other people’s emotions—draining down this cord.
Say aloud:
“I release what is not mine. I declare any energy that is not mine to leave now.”

Breathe deeply.
Feel yourself becoming lighter.
Let the Earth transmute the energy

2. Golden Sun Ritual: Call Your Energy Back

If you’ve been giving your energy to people, places, old timelines, or trauma loops—this is for you.

Visualize a radiant golden sun above your head.
See your name glowing inside it.

Say aloud or silently:
“I call my energy back now. From all people, all timelines, all places. I return to myself.”

Watch golden threads of light gather into the sun, being purified. The sun gets bigger and bigger.

When it feels full, place a finger at the top of your head, as if to make a hole, and let the golden light pour into your crown.
Let it fill your body… and overflow into your aura.

Let it seal your field in radiance.

3. Color Shields & Flame Technology

Some Priestesses find protection in color frequencies:

  • Royal Blue Light: Wrap it around your body like a cloak. It shields your auric field like psychic armor.

  • Violet Flame: Call it around your body, your home, your bed. It purifies and transmutes dense energy

You can visualize these colors around you in meditation, in the bath, or before sleep.

The Power of Sisterhood

Sensitivity is not meant to be carried alone.
When you gather with other women who feel as deeply as you do… healing happens.

We open deeply to our hearts when we share our stories, name our gifts and normalize our truths. You don’t have to carry this alone.

Let yourself be held in spaces where no one tells you to “toughen up” or “get over it.”
You don’t need to “fix” your sensitivity—you just need to honor it.

A Blessing For the Sensitive Ones

To the women who cry at sunset…
Who wake up from dreams that aren’t fully our own…
Who can’t walk into a room without feeling everything…

You are not broken.
You are an oracle.
You are a channel for the collective healing of this planet.
You are a Priestess.

Your sensitivity is sacred.
And your soul came here with a purpose.

You are not here to shut down…
You are here to feel
To heal.
To alchemize.
To rise.

Protect your light, beloved.
We need you.

With love,

Meredith
